Logi Info Studio Risks
While describing LogiXML’s Logi Info, Brian Cox stated “there is still room for improvement on the development end of things.” If LogiXML is listening or if my developer peers wish to understand some of the risks, I will describe a few challenges I experienced.
Logi Info Studio is the developers’ tool for creating LogiXML's Logi Info reports. Since I am working with Logi Info Studio on one project and Microsoft’s Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) (i.e., the developers’ tool for creating SQL Server Reporting Services reports) on another project, comparing the two products is natural for me. Examples and descriptions from each developer interface are included.

LogiXML - Steps in the right direction, but still a ways to go
A few fellow CapTechers and I recently had the opportunity to attend on-site training for LogiXML's Business Intelligence tools. While the LogiXML Info and Ad Hoc tools seem fairly comprehensive, there is still room for improvement on the development end of things.
LogiXML's two BI tools are very similar. While the Info is more geared toward technical power users, the less powerful Ad Hoc option is more business user friendly. This seems to be fairly standard among most companies’ BI offerings and LogiXML is toeing that line fairly effectively. That said, most of our training focused on LogiXML Info and that’s where the majority of this post will focus.

What to Make of the Latest Gartner Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Platforms?
Gartner recently released an updated version of the Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence Platforms. One quick glance at the new Magic Quadrant and you’ll notice there are a whopping 19 entries this year, with 8 companies making the prestigious leader quadrant. When compared to the 4 leaders in the Data Integration magic quadrant and 6 in the data warehouse space it is clear there is a lot happening in the world of Business Intelligence.

BI Challengers: Disrupting the Mega Vendor?
I recently wrote a post on my predictions for BI in 2011. I received lots of feedback about my thoughts with most of it focusing on my prediction that some of the niche BI players will start to disrupt the BI market in 2011. Based on that feedback I thought a follow up post to dig a little deeper on the topic was in order.
